As a species, we’re making bad choices  – polluting the planet and making life difficult now, and perhaps impossible in the future. As physicians, it is time to do what you do best: heal the planet. Ok sure, that sounds corny, but take a listen and let me explain how we can help to promote Planet Wellness:

Promoting Planet Wellness

environmental wellness

Be well ourselves

Look deep into your subconscious and ask; what are the most important things for me in World right now? What are the main threats to the things I value?

If climate change isn’t on that list, I think you need to do more research on climate change.

What am I doing to protect what I value most? If you are not doing anything, you’re like suffering and are more likely to suffer in the future.

Heal Collective Delusions

We, physicians, are part of a respected institution, whose responsibility extends beyond the patient in front of us to the health and wellbeing of society as a whole. We need to talk about the risks to health as a result of unchecked global warming. It is our responsibility to help educate the public on this impending health crisis.

Take action

Do something Be creative, and do what works for you to improve climate action at home and at your workplace.

3 small things you can do right now at work:

  • Get rid of exam table paper, you don’t need it
  • Get rid of sterile bottled saline – it is no better than tap water, and has a significant carbon footprint.
  • Stop using sterile packaged gloves for wound repair – they’re no better than the multi-packaged gloves.
