Methodology: 2.5/5
Usefulness: 2.5/5

Razi A, et al. Am J Emerg Med. 2022 Aug;58:245-250.

Question and Methods: This single-center, RCT of 120  patients with acute renal colic compared pain control and antiemetic use with dexamethasone + ketorolac compared to ketorolac alone.
Findings: Significantly lower pain at 30 minutes (VAS 3.5 vs. 5), not at 60 minutes; significantly lower narcotic (35% vs 58%) and antiemetic use (7% vs 17%) at 60 minutes.
Limitations: Questionable patient inclusion criteria; lack of longer follow-up and other meaningful outcomes.

Interpretation: Further large-scale studies addressing the weaknesses and inclusion of important outcomes needed before adoption.
